Legends pull in front with big frame

Halfway through the opening game of the CMWS, the Florida Legends are leading 3-1. It's the bottom of the fifth inning, a frame the Legends entered trailing 1-0. But a two-run homer from designated hitter Peter O'Brian and an RBI single by Pablo Bermudez has the Florida squad in front by 2.

Both pitchers have thrown a heck of a game thus far, with Florida's Jack Armstrong giving up an earned run through five innngs, and UNM-bound Rudy Jaramillo equally sharp until running into trouble here in the fifth.

There's another run-scoring single to left from Adrian Nieto to make it 4-1 Legends. While we're killing time up here in the press box, I'd like to point out that the eighth wonder of the word, the American Flag, has returned for the 44th Annual edition of the World Series. I love that thing. It's nearly touching the ground ... not really, but work with me.

Pitching change at Ricketts: Jaramillo is being replaced by a new guy ... still waiting on a name. Got it, it's Danny Victorino. Loosely translated, his name means "victory," which is nice. With the bases loaded, the Finest gave up a two-run error.

After five complete, the Legends lead 6-1

Good crowd on hand with the opening-night ceremonies on tap. Of course, in Game 2, we have the big one, the East Cobb Yankees and Midland Redskins. Darren is covering that game, and will have live updates as it progresses.

Be sure to check back frequently to stay abreast of the action.
