Getting ready for the start of the noon Connie Mack World Series game, featuring the Connecticut Bombers and Puerto Ricos' Llaneros 21.

Starting pitchers: For Connecticut, it's Tyler Mizenko, while Llaneros is going with Luis Ortiz.

First pitch is minutes away, and I'll try and maintain a running log inning by inning.

Today's evening game is the Arizona Firebirds against the Illinois Longshots, followed by the big one, the host Cards taking on the Miracles of Houston.

Before we dive into game mode, I had a chance to head out to the Midland practice this morning at the Farmington Sports Complex. I'm working on a Sunday feature on Eric Hosmer, the Redskins' dynamite first baseman. Lot of good information on Hosmer, including some great quotes from Mr. Joe Hayden and Brian Hiler. Look for that story in Sunday's print edition. Again, Hosmer was the third overall pick in the June MLB draft. He's likely to sign with the Kansas City Royals following the World Series, but could opt to attend Arizona State University.

Well, player introductions have started. Again, check back often for updates on Game 3 of the CMWS.
