Each of the better seeds won today at the City Tournament.

The Cardinals trounced the Braves 21-0. Coach Don Lorett said he used four pitchers and tried to get everybody work. His team has earned a bye and will play again Wednesday.

The Bandits squeaked past the Naa'taanii by one run, according to Sting coach Sean Trotter. The Naa'taanii, who nearly got barred from the tournament because of several forfeits and lost suspended coach Dineh Benally, now face an elimination game Tuesday against the Panthers.

The Sting got by the Panthers 5-4 in the night cap at the Sports Complex.

The Yankees overcame a slow start to beat the Dodgers 11-3.

Starter Bryce Rockwell gave up three runs in three innings. Coy Bentley earned the win in relief.

Coach Daniel Clark said the offense did well, crediting Ky Carlson and Damion Lovato for putting some good swings on the ball.

"We demonstrated good plate discipline. We had more walks than strikeouts, which is a good indicator" we understood the strike zone, Clark said.

The Yankees will play the Sting Tuesday for the right to a Wednesday bye. It was nice to get the first win, especially considering his team had a week off before the tournament, Clark said.

"Timing is such a huge issue in baseball and it can't be duplicated in practice," Clark said.

Jesus Carlos is expected to start Tuesday against the Sting.

The Thunder had a bye on Monday and will face the Bandits on Tuesday.
