some of the more interesting photos i've taken since January

it's always nice to be able to shoot a variety of assignments. that's one of the big reasons i love what i do. the subject matter of what i photograph varies much from day-to-day, for the most part. i was once told a good news photo will convey a part of the story that can't always come across in words, while adding to and supporting the reporter's story and being aesthetically pleasing -- all captured in a 'decisive' moment. we may not always be able to accomplish all of those things in one photo, but again, it's a good goal to have while taking photos.
below are a few recent photos i hoped did the job described above (or were at least fun photos to see), which ran within the last month, for the most part.

I liked the "kicker" (photo headline) on the next photo, it worked with the photo well, i thought. good job copy/designers. it read :
