-here's one to kick it off. i was traveling through Kirtland looking for an old billboard for our story on Saturday by Liz Piazza on the launch of the new anti-meth campaign, and came across this accident involving an officer with the NM State Police. amazingly, no one was seriously hurt -- despite the mangled appearance of this officer's car. a welcome change from accident's where there are injuries.

New Mexico State Police Officer Jeremy Yazzie walks past his patrol car Friday on U.S. 64 on the west end of Kirtland. He had pulled over with his police lights on to help a motorist in the right-hand lane of eastbound U.S. 64, according to N.M. State Police Officer Gary Chavez, when a semitrailer hit his car from the rear. No one was seriously injured, but the car was totaled and traffic was slow in the eastbound lane entering Kirtland.

Pat Hogan, our online editor, has launched a new blog for us Daily Times photo folks to show some of our work. The blog will be a great place to share some of the photos we run, but also to get out some of the photos that don't make it to the daily print edition.
Enjoy, and I hope you check back frequently,
Xavier Mascareñas
